and there we were
taking turns to cook a
fry up like our lives
depended on it like
that was what we were
put on this earth to do
could barely
poach an egg back then
look how far we’ve come
i hope you are
happy in your
long courageous
body
your
perfect bones
my teeth are
homeless with
no one to bite
if i had the balls
i would sit back
close the laptop
close my eyes
pretend that
loving you is
not a big deal
pretend that
loving you is
something that
any fool can do
